PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Gomtinagar (Shift I), Lucknow, is an autonomous institution operating under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It was founded on June 29, 1984, with the aim of fulfilling the educational requirements of children whose parents are transferable central government employees, including those in defense and paramilitary forces. The school is committed to providing a common curriculum and achieving excellence in the field of school education. The institution collaborates with bodies like the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) to foster innovation and experimentation in education. A core objective is to cultivate a sense of national unity and an appreciation for "Indianness" among its students. The school currently serves a student body of 1343 boys and 1166 girls, supported by 87 staff members, comprising 79 academic and 7 non-academic personnel.
